AGU Holds Open Library Day

Manama, AGU: The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) President Dr. Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al Ohaly on Monday opened the activities of the Open Library Day, which is organised by the university as part of its continued endeavors to develop electronic databases and provide students and researchers with accredited scientific journals.
On the occasion, Dr. Al Ohaly also inaugurated the AGU’s new training laboratory, which the university aims to utilise in providing the students of both Colleges of Medicine and Medical Science and Graduate Studies with the latest technologies that will enable them of perfecting scientific researches and support their studies with internationally approved evidence.
Dr. Al Ohaly said AGU has been established to be a research university that supports strategic causes of the GCC society, adding that the scientific curricula offered at the university are based on knowledge, research and accessing various sources to find solutions based on scientific evidence.
Several libraries took part in the activities of the Open Library Day that is in addition to representatives of renowned electronic databases such as Elsevier, EBSCO Information Services, Dar Al Mandumah, Naseej, Tech Knowledge and more.
The activity included three scientific lectures titled “Utilising educational database and the master's and doctorate thesis for the purposes of scientific research”, “Means to develop the performance of research in global databases” and “The properties of EBSCO database”. The open day also witnessed the inauguration of the AGU Scientific Research Magazine database.
